This striking piece was created by the renowned cartographer John Tallis (1818-1876) and engraved by the skilled artisan John Rapkin. York was capital of the Yorkshire Ridings back then and is steeped in history around every corner, The Romans (Eboracum), The Vikings (Jorvik), the visitation of Henry VIII. All railways led to York as claimed by its famous son George "Railway King" Hudson, chocolate production was being carried out by the Terry family and was soon to be joined by Rowntree's from 1862. The birth place of Guy Fawkes, the place of execution of Dick Turpin. The City Walls of York have many a tale to tell. This is your opportunity to own part of that history.
This piece has been digitally cleaned in order to remove blemishes and most signs of ageing but keeps the look, feel and integrity of the original. This reproduction has a sepia tone to add that look of authenticity.
