A wonderful piece commissioned to commemorate World War II and to mark the importance that agriculture, industry and the role that women played on the home front in securing that victory. Various Cambridgeshire towns served as bases for US fighter and bomber groups and there were US Army hospitals at Newmarket and Wimpole Hall. Discoveries at Cavendish Laboratories Cambridge also enabled many new war-time applications of Radar.
The map details towns, larger villages, rivers and the industrial and agricultural products produced within those areas. It gives special mention to the role of the Women's Land Army and the importance of British farms along with excerpts of Winston Churchill's speeches.
This work is highly sought-after work and is sure to form an interesting conversation piece to any living room. This piece looks stunning mounted as shown in either our A2 or 20x16 inch framed editions.
