This superb colour map of the Great Western Railway was published by Geographia Limited in 1950. Upon its release it was somewhat retrospective as British Railways had been formed in January 1948 by merging the former 'Big Four' railway companies. These companies were Great Western Railway (GWR); London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS); London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) and Southern Railway (SR).

The extensive GWR railway,, fondly known as God's Wonderful Railway, covered South Western England, Wales with especially dense coverage in South Wales, The Midlands and reached as far north as Liverpool and Manchester whilst of course providing links to the capital. Three superb inset maps give even greater detail of the network in South Wales, the Birmingham District and London with its suburbs. The famed GWR logo is exhibited in the bottom left corner along with a comprehensive key in the upper right. Four of GWR's Hotels are also marked at Manor House (Moretonhampstead), Tregenna Castle (St Ives), Fishguard Bay (Fishguard) and the Royal Hotel (Paddington).

A classic work that creates a centrepiece for any home and would look stunning framed. This print is produced on premium heavyweight 230 gsm paper and uses the finest quality inks that will not fade or smudge.

This is a highly sought-after work.
