This is an absolutely stunning piece, the colouration is a beauty to be hold and this is my current personal favourite map by the renowned Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598). Ortelius was a Brabantian cartographer, geographer, and cosmographer, conventionally recognized as the creator of the first modern atlas, the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (Theatre of the World). Along with Gemma Frisius and Gerardus Mercator, Ortelius is generally considered one of the founders of the Netherlandish school of cartography and geography. He was a notable figure of this school in its golden age (approximately 1570s–1670s) and an important geographer of Spain during the age of discovery.

This exquisite work is of England and Wales just before the turn of the 17th century which was published posthumously. This map was based on an earlier work by the famous cartographer Christopher Saxton.

This is a rare, highly sought after work and is sure to form an interesting conversation piece to any living room. This piece would look stunning mounted (not supplied) and comes ready trimmed to fit in popular sizes 16x12, 20x16 and 24x20 inch frames
