This wonderful pictorial Edinburgh map was produced by the famed artist Kerry Ernest Lee who was born in Hackney 1903. This particular piece was commissioned by the Scottish Tourist Board to boost interest in "Auld Reekie" - a job I am sure you will agree was well achieved. Lee captures the charm, history and romance of the beautiful city of Edinburgh in his own unique style. There are so any illustrations and hidden gems, it is a really delightful piece. One such example is the story of Sir Bob Carey in 1603 who rode for two days on horseback to inform King James the sixth of Scotland that Queen Elizabeth had died. Carey informed James (son of Mary Queen of Scots) in his bed chamber that he was now King James the First of England, Scotland and Ireland. As with most of Lee's works this map includes the renowned caricature of the artist and his faithful dog Jim in the bottom right hand corner!
This is a highly sought after work and is sure to form an interesting conversation piece to any living room. This piece looks stunning mounted (as pictured).
