This Clan Map of Scotland by Don Pottinger features a detailed map of Scotland, highlighting the clans and territories of the Highland region. This map is an educational resource for those interested in learning about the history and culture of Scotland.

The 'Map of Scotland of Old' is a fascinating work created by Don Pottinger and Sir Iain Moncreiffe and originally published by Batholomew's.

The Scotland of Old Clans Map is a unique pictorial map showing the ancient territories of the principal Scottish clans in the 17th century and features Don Pottinger’s (Islay Herald of Arms) distinctive and original artwork of Scottish arms and crest badges. The central map delineates Clan territories and it is framed with some 170 heraldic shields along with their crests and mottoes.

The map is described thus on the sleeve.

"Showing the lands and sphere of influence of the main clans and names of Scotland, including for the first time those of the Lowland and Border families, about the time of King James VI, together with their main seats, strongholds and historic sites.

Also the arms and crests of the chiefs of these families, and the arms of the ancient local principalities and realm of Scotland, all in full colour".

This work uses a brightly coloured map contrasted against a dark brown background which works well to accentuate the subject

I have performed an extensive digital repair on this work but ensured that it remains in sympathy and true to the original work.

This is a fascinating piece sure to thrill anyone with a love of Scotland, have ancestors from there, or have an interest in Scottish heraldry and History.
