This is our reworking of the classic print by Terence Cuneo 'Clear Road Ahead, Monmouth Castle' commissioned by British Railways. Completed in 1949 this work depicts the footplate of 4-6-0 Castle class steam locomotive No 5037 'Monmouth Castle', with the driver at the controls and the fireman shovelling coal into the firebox.
The Age of Steam continues to hold a romanticism and fascination from those halcyon days of yesteryear.
